Just as a mega pixel camera is there any giga or tera pixel camera?

No. Not anything quite that big yet. Nothing needs that type of resolution. Consumer cameras are mostly in the 14 megapixel range. Some professional cameras are 25 and up. But Gigapixel is far future, it would be 1024 megapixels.Just as a mega pixel camera is there any giga or tera pixel camera?
As the only real advantage to Mp is how big you can print without interpolation what would be the point? There are more downsides to lots of Mp due to high pixel density such as high noise and low dynamic range that Gp sensors would mean a lowering of image quality, not an increase.

It's for this reason that Astronomical cameras, in the Hubble for instance, use small Mp sensors, around 4Mp if memory serves, and use image stacking to get the high resolution.

I do have a panorama file of Whitby harbour that will print an image 4 foot high by 40 foot long without any interpolation which is 1.6Gb in size, but that is composed of 10 separate image files.

No. The highest that i know of on a portable camera is 160MP:

Some sensors built into large astronomy telescopes may have insanely high resolutions though.

If you find a "gigapixel" image on the internet, then it's usually stitched together from tons of normal images.Just as a mega pixel camera is there any giga or tera pixel camera?
Not yet but research is on. So far I've seen the 200 MP camera from Hasslebald. These are mostly use by professional photographers who take photos for Stock Photos or to be used on gaint banners

Also included below is the link to the gigapixel camera project.
There are some ground based telescopes in the gigapixel range, presently 1.4 Gp, in a few years 3.2 Gp.

yes there is only seitz and hasselblad that have 160 and 200 mega pixels commercial cameras.maybe in research the same companies have giga pixel cams
In research maybe. Who knows for sure? Commercially, it's the $45,000 Hasselblad H4D-200MS with 200MP. No GB or TP yet.
